• Print production - how to achieve the most cost-effective production: what form of printing, the number of colours, the type of finishing, the way in which copy could be passed for print and the other services which might be needed; location of printing services allied with other elements of the supply chain
• Suppliers – advice on supplier selection; tendering exercises; managing the supplier selection process, including site visits and compliance with ISO9001/Investors in People, if required; liaison with and management of suppliers for all or part of any production requirement
• Packaging – consideration of the types of packaging needed; the quality levels possible or desirable to suit the client’s budget and the purpose of the item; consideration of practical or environmental aspects; sources of supply; provision of material and paper samples, finished samples and mockups
• Additional media - we have expertise in the creation of DVD, CD, audio or video; advice can be provided in terms of budget, content, production companies and duplication companies - and the various packaging implications which might then ensue. Website development can be managed on your behalf, bringing together all necessary elements, including, as appropriate, commissioning of video or artwork or ancillary files and documentation
• Software and hardware systems – which computer systems, which software, what form of storage or backup may be needed if you are starting a publishing operation
• Staffing and training - creation of job and person descriptions for staff at various points of the publishing continuum; liaison with specialist agencies or handling staff interviews and selection; advice on, or provision of, training course solutions for a wide range of publishing software
